Ice Skating Around the Twin Cities - Counselor Realty

With over 14,380 lakes, it's no surprise ice sports have become quite a tradition around Minnesota. Ice skating is a fun way to exercise during the wintertime. Whether you play hockey, figure skate, or simply like to skate around, there are so many great rinks around the Twin Cities. Many of them are outdoors too, so it's easy to get some fresh air. Here are five of our favorite local places to skate.

  • Parade Ice Garden - 600 Kenwood Pkwy., Minneapolis, MN 55403
With three full indoor rinks, a locker room, spectator seating, skate rentals, and a concession stand, Parade Ice Garden is easily one of the best skating spots in Minneapolis. Open skating takes place most weekday afternoons, but the rink also hosts adult open hockey and figure skating pro ice as well. There are often many events to watch on the weekends. You'll have a ton of fun at Parade Ice Garden, and it's just a short drive from some beautiful Minneapolis homes for sale.

Vegan Restaurants - Twin Cities, MN - Counselor Realty

It's not always easy finding vegan dining options — particularly when you move to a new area. There are plenty of Minneapolis homes for sale and Saint Paul homes for sale, but it takes a bit of research and planning to determine which restaurants in the Twin Cities have the best plant-based options. Don't worry, though; we've got you covered. As we celebrate World Vegan Month this November, here are some of the most convenient and delicious vegan options the Twin Cities have to offer.

  1. Hard Times Cafe - 1821 Riverside Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55454
Open 22 hours a day (6 am to 4 am daily), the Hard Times Cafe has a punk vibe and a great vegan menu with a wide variety of delicious and exotic options you can enjoy at almost any hour. Of particular interest are their vegan dessert cups, such as blueberry vegan cheesecake, chocolate cake with lavender frosting, and lime curd with cherries, layered into cups for a quick and convenient dairy-free treat.

Apple Orchards - Twin Cities - Counselor Realty

For many people, fall and apple orchards go hand in hand. Visiting an orchard gives you the chance to pick up fresh apples in exotic varieties you won't find at your local grocery store. As a bonus, you'll be supporting local farmers and sustainable farming practices. These five orchards are close to both Minneapolis homes for sale and St. Paul homes for sale, making them perfect places to stock up on apples and other fall produce no matter where you live in the Twin Cities area.

  1. Victoria Valley Orchard - 4304 N. Victoria St., Shoreview, MN 55126
Victoria Valley Orchard is an intimate, family-owned orchard near Shoreview homes for sale. The business dates back to the 1960s and has been proudly passed down through several generations since then. These days, they grow 21 varieties of apples, including uncommon options like Ginger Gold, Wealthy, and Shamrock.

You can buy any of these apples by the pound from apple crates kept stocked at the shop in front of the orchard. You'll also find delicious products like unpasteurized honey, caramel apples, and apple-related treats like crisps and pies. Guests do not currently have the option to pick their own fruit, but they are allowed to walk around the orchard and enjoy the beauty of the farm's well-kept grounds.

Fall is almost here, the kids are back to school, and Sourdough September is upon us. Oh, you weren't aware of this month-long celebration of all things sourdough? Well, it's not too late to join in the delicious festivities.

But what if you're new to the area and don't know where things are yet? Any agent can find Minneapolis homes for sale, but can they tell you where the best bakeries are in the area of your new home? Likewise, there are a plethora of Saint Paul homes for sale, but once you move in, do you know where to go to enjoy fresh, hot sourdough bread nearby? We're here to help. Here's a list of our favorite places for sourdough in the Twin Cities.

  • Aki's Bread Haus - 2506 Central Ave. NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418
Hailing from Germany, Aki's Bread Haus serves fresh, hot loaves, rolls, pretzels, and more. One of their specialties is bauernbrot, a dark, German sourdough bread made with rye and wheat flours.
