Railroad magnate James J. Hill's dazzling Gilded Age-era mansion could have come straight out of the pages of The Great Gatsby. Completed in 1891, the 36,500-square-foot mansion came in at a total cost of just under $1 million, making it the largest and most expensive home in the state at the time.
