Gifts are fun to give and receive, but the highlight of the holidays is sharing quality time with family and friends. Create memories and start traditions at these top holiday destinations near Minneapolis homes for sale and St. Paul homes for sale.

  1. European Christmas Market - Union Depot East Plaza, 240 E. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55101
Add some international spirit to your holidays with a visit to the European Christmas Market. The authentic market draws inspiration from traditional holiday open-air markets that are beloved in Europe. Browse offerings from more than 70 vendors selling unique, artisan-made gift items. Kids will enjoy the Holiday Train, Carousel, and craft activities, while there's live entertainment and European-style food and drinks for the whole family. The market is open each weekend through 12/22. Hours are 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.

  2. A Christmas Carol - Guthrie Theater, 818 S. 2nd St., Minneapolis, MN 55415
A staple of the Twin Cities holiday season celebrates its golden anniversary when A Christmas Carol is once again staged at the venerable Guthrie Theater. Generations of families have been enchanted by the classic Charles Dickens tale of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and his day of reckoning as conducted by a trio of ghosts. Veteran stage and TV actor David Beach makes his Guthrie debut in the role of Scrooge. Visit the website for full schedule and ticket prices.

  3. Holidays at Crooners - Crooners Supper Club, 6161 Highway 65 NE, Minneapolis, MN 55432

  4. Holidays on the Hill - James J. Hill House, 240 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN 55102

View this impressive estate in all its holiday glory during Holidays on the Hill. Completed in 1891, the 36,500-square-foot mansion came in at a total cost of just under $1 million, making it the largest and most expensive home in the state at the time.
