Celebrate National Walking Day Around the Twin Cities | Counselor Realty

Walking is so good for you, both mentally and physically. It increases your heart rate, strengthens your legs, and allows you to enjoy the fresh air. If you've been meaning to walk more, this is the perfect time to dedicate yourself to the habit. National Walking Day is coming up on the first Wednesday in April. We suggest taking a break from looking at St. Paul homes for sale and visiting one of these top walking spots in the Twin Cities.

  • Bunker Hills Regional Park - 550 Bunker Lake Blvd. NW, Andover, MN 55305
If you're in the area looking at Andover homes for sale, stop by Bunker Hills Regional Park for a walk. The park has more than 20 kilometers of cross-country skiing trails, which you can easily walk in the spring and summer. The trails are slightly hilly but not overly challenging.

This regional park also has picnic shelters, a dog park, and a playground. It's a great place to spend an afternoon with family.

  • Manomin Park - 6666 E. River Road, Fridley, MN 55432
Another wonderful park to walk through is Manomin Park, an 18-acre park along Rice Creek and the Mississippi River. There are paved and limestone trails for walking and biking, and there are plenty of benches to sit and rest along the way.

Manomin Park is home to an abundance of wildlife, and fishing is allowed on Locke Lake within the park. Don't forget to look at some Fridley homes for sale nearby.

  • Millennium Garden - 14800 34th Ave. N, Plymouth, MN 55447
    Millennium Garden
is a gorgeous community garden filled with walking trails. As you stroll along, you'll see magnificent fountains, blooming flowers, and plenty of open spaces.

There are lots of beautiful Plymouth homes for sale near Millennium Garden. The park is open daily from 8 am - 9 pm.

  • Nature Canyon Park - 13919 45th Ave. N., Plymouth, MN 55446
If you're just in the mood for a short walk, Nature Canyon Park is a great place to visit. The 0.5-mile walking trail passes through some woods and a nice meadow. The trail is flat and well-maintained, making it a great choice for families with small children.

Nature Canyon Park also has a modern playground. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. Like all Plymouth Parks, this one is tobacco-free.

  • Battle Creek Regional Park - 75 Winthrop St. S, Saint Paul, MN 55119
    Battle Creek Regional Park
is a rather large park with several paved walkways along with a more rugged trail for hiking and mountain biking. There is also a large playground, a natural area, and a dog park on-site.

At Battle Creek Regional Park, you'll find lots of grills and picnic tables. So, this would be a great spot for a weekend picnic and group hike.

  • Mississippi Gorge Regional Park: 3349 W. River Parkway., Minneapolis, MN 55406
If you're looking at Minneapolis homes for sale, then Mississippi Gorge Regional Park is just minutes away. This 132-acre park spans both sides of the Mississippi River.

A dedicated walking path stretches through the park and offers incredible views of the river. You'll also see plenty of birds in the meadows and trees. More than 150 species are known to live in or visit the park.

If you're new to walking for exercise, remember to start slow and add distance over time as your body adapts. We hope you enjoy the journey! Feel free to call today if you need help finding the perfect home in the Twin Cities area.
