Holiday Outings - Twin Cities, MN - Counselor Realty

Moving to a new area is never easy, especially around the holidays. After a long day looking at Minneapolis homes for sale and St. Paul homes for sale, you'd love to have some traditional holiday fun. Where can you go, though? Here are our top five favorite places for a great holiday outing around the Twin Cities.

  1. Glow Holiday Festival - 1256 Snelling Ave. N, St. Paul, MN 55108
If you want to see some impressive light displays this holiday season, the GLOW Holiday Festival is where you want to be. It has over a million lights, forming a variety of colorful displays. The Tremendous Tree is a 60-foot Christmas light show, synced to music, while the Color Blossoms display takes the shape of thousands of blooming, dancing flowers. Plus, several interactive light displays that change based on your movement - or even let you control them yourself! In addition to lights, there's a host of other holiday activities, from a s'mores campfire station to the Reindeer Run holiday maze to the lighted Penguin Playground. And don't miss the sElfie Station, where you can get family photos alongside Santa's helpers.

  2. Canadian Pacific Holiday Train - 214 4th St. E, St. Paul, MN 55101
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train makes its way across the country, city by city, throughout the holiday season. This year, it will be stopping at Union Depot in St. Paul on Monday, December 12th, and at Lions Park in Minneapolis on Tuesday, December 13th. The train is lit up in dazzling, neon holiday lights, accompanied by live music by singer-songwriters Alan Doyle and Kelly Prescott. It's a holiday event like no other, and all proceeds benefit local food banks and other programs devoted to helping those with food insecurity.

  3. Holidazzle - 1382 Willow St., Minneapolis, MN 55403
At Holidazzle, there's something for everyone. There are gorgeous light displays, fireworks, amusement rides, and holiday mazes for the kids. Plus, food and gift vendors, interactive art exhibits, and much more! Running weekend afternoons and evenings through December 18th, Metro Transit offers free ride passes to the event on Saturdays—or get $5 parking courtesy of Mpls College.

  4. European Christmas Market at Union Depot - 214 4th St. E, St. Paul, MN 55101
Decked out like a holiday village, the European Christmas Market is a great place to browse local vendors' holiday offerings, including food, fashion, gifts, crafts, and more. Depending on what day you go, you may also get to ride the North Pole Express to visit Santa or experience their holiday bake sale! Running four weekends through the advent season, it's the only authentic European Christmas Market in Minnesota and a great place to bring the whole family.

  5. Miracle at Lawless Holiday Pop-Up Bar - 2619 S. 28th. Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55406
When you picture traditional Christmas cheer, the image in your mind probably looks a lot like Miracle at Lawless. The schmaltzy holiday decorations are part of the fun at this annual Christmas pop-up. In addition to holly, tinsel, and lights, they also have specially crafted Christmas cocktails served up in fun, novelty holiday mugs. It's a great way to get into the holiday spirit—but get there early, as it's first come, first served, and tends to fill up fast.

The Twin Cities are an amazing place to spend the holidays, but they're also a great place to live all year round. If you're ready to make Minneapolis or St. Paul your new home, contact us. We'll help you find a house that meets all your needs in a neighborhood you love.
