Lunch Stops - Twin Cities - Counselor Realty

April 13th is National Make Lunch Count Day, and the Twin Cities are filled with wonderful restaurants and cafes to help you celebrate. Whether you're searching for Minneapolis homes for sale or St. Paul homes for sale, there are many places between the two cities to enjoy lunch any day of the week. To get you started, we've narrowed down some of our favorites.

  1. Longfellow Grill - 2990 W. River Pkwy., Minneapolis, MN 55406
The Longfellow Grill serves casual American food like burgers and steaks, but they also have more unique dishes like the smothered chilaquiles. A lot of people remember this place because of the adorable plastic trays that are used for kids' meals, but you might remember it more for the grill's tasty Nashville fried chicken or deluxe burger that even includes crispy onion strings. It's a lovely family-style restaurant that you'll want to come back to again and again.

  2. El Burrito Mercado - 175 Cesar Chavez St., Saint Paul, MN 55107
Whether you're looking for a sit-down lunch or would prefer to grab a hot dish at the deli and take it home, this is the place. El Burrito Mercado is a cafeteria-style restaurant and features a welcoming decor made by Mexican artisans to go with the flavorful south-of-the-border menu. This wonderful eatery has all the classics, from tacos and enchiladas to tamales and rice, all filled with loads of flavor.

  3. Wise Acre Eatery - 5401 Nicollet Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55419
With much of the food sourced from its own farm in Plato, the Wise Acre Eatery wows everyone who visits. If you go there for lunch, you'll have quite a selection to choose from, such as burgers, grilled cheese, salads, soups, and a very popular beef stew. You can also visit the newly added market and deli while you're there and pick up fresh food items such as eggs, meats, and seasonal produce. It's a one-stop-shop!

  4. Shish - 1668 Grand Ave., Saint Paul, MN 55105
Located on the Macalester College campus, Shish is a favorite of students and the general public. This Mediterranean cafe has a sizable menu consisting of gyros, falafels, fresh salads, hummus, burgers, shawarma, and more. Many people are surprised at the restaurant's massive collection of cakes and other types of desserts. The best part is that Shish gets its meats from a local ranch, so you know they're always fresh and delicious.

  5. Que Viet Village House - 2211 Johnson St. NE #3905, Minneapolis, MN 55418
There's no way we would leave the Que Viet Village House off of this list if only for one reason: their incredible egg rolls! If you're not aware, these egg rolls have had a cult following since being featured at the state fair. If egg rolls aren't your thing, try some Vietnamese classics such as pho, rice noodle salads, egg foo young, and other delicious menu items. Family-owned and operated since 1980, this restaurant is simply delightful.

  6. The Buttered Tin - 237 7th St. E, Saint Paul, MN 55101
The Buttered Tin is perfect for anyone wanting to have breakfast for lunch. They're especially known for their soft scrambled eggs, breakfast tacos, and classic biscuits and gravy. But, you can go the more traditional lunch route and grab a pot roast sandwich, grilled cheese, house salad, and many other tasty items. They also have a sizable bakery selection with various cakes, pies, cupcakes, cookies, and more.
