Coffee Shops for Barista Day - Twin Cities - Counselor Realty

For most of us, coffee makes the world go 'round. Whether we're powering through a long day of showing clients all the best Minneapolis homes for sale or we're relaxing and enjoying a latte with friends, our real estate agents love visiting the many area coffee shops.

Barista Day is coming up, making now the perfect time to visit some of our locally-owned coffee shops and show your appreciation! Here are a few we recommend.

  1. Cafe Astoria: 180 Grand Ave. St. Paul, MN 55102
If you've been looking at St. Paul homes for sale, you'll want to familiarize yourself with Cafe Astoria. You'll love the warm, cozy environment and the unique food and drink menu. We recommend trying one of their signature lattes, like the Creme Brulee, or something from the Secret Menu, like the Campfire Latte Espresso or the Rainbow Matcha. Make sure you come hungry because the sweet or savory crepes are incredible!

  2. Five Watt Coffee, Kingfield: 3745 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55409
A hip, modern venue, Five Watt Coffee is known for its creative, espresso-based craft cocktails. The menu features items like the Busy Beaver, which is made with maple syrup, molasses, blackstrap bitters, cinnamon, espresso, and milk, and the Gin Basil Smash, made with nitro cold press, Five Watt Gin Bitters, basil syrup, and cream. When you stop by, be sure to ask about their store specials and seasonal drinks. They're always brewing up something new!

  3. Workhorse Coffee Bar: 2399 University Ave W, St Paul, MN 55114
Located near the Raymond Ave. Light Rail Station and the Route 16 bus stop, Workhorse Coffee Bar is a popular stop for both locals and visitors. They have a simple menu that features high-quality coffee, espresso, tea, and baked goods. This trendy spot is knowns as a community hub and is also home to the smallest museum in St. Paul. Stop for a quick visit, and you'll soon see why so many people love this local hot spot.

  4. JS Bean Factory: 1518 Randolph Ave, St Paul, MN 55105
Featuring fresh coffee beans roasted on-site and delicious fresh-baked pastries, JS Bean Factory is a cozy, arty coffee shop that draws visitors from all over the St. Paul area. This independent shop has been open since 2001. Every day, they feature one decaf and two regular coffees from various countries. They also have a vast menu of specialty coffee-based drinks and will make custom drinks per request. Don't forget to take a growler or some fresh-roasted beans home with you to enjoy later.

  5. Cahoots Coffee Bar: 1562 Selby Ave. St. Paul, MN 55104
Located in the Union Park District of St. Paul, Cahoots Coffee Bar is the go-to spot for incredible Turkish coffee made with local ingredients. They've been a staple in the St. Paul area since 1994 and are often frequented by faculty and staff from Concordia University and Macalester College campuses. It's also conveniently nearby some of the best local shopping spots.

We recommend the Turtle Mocha, made with espresso, chocolate, caramel, and steamed milk, or the Thai Coffee, made with espresso and sweetened condensed milk, topped with water or drip coffee. They also carry loose-leaf tea and a selection of tasty Mediterranean snacks.
