Easter Egg Hunts and More Will Thrill Little Ones This Easter Season
Several of the Twin Cities' top attractions will be open and looking forward to your visit on and around Easter this year. In many cases, there are reduced fees or even free entry so families can have fun without the stress.
Let's look at some places that will be welcoming kids (and parents, of course!) this Easter:
- Como Zoo
Como Zoo is free and open throughout the year. One of the region's leading zoos, it's home to dozens of rare and unusual animal species including crowd favorites like lions, zebras, wolves, and sloths. The Leonard Wilkening Children's Gallery is a great place to explore around Easter.
- Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park
Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park will be hosting a free Family Fun Day from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – there's no need to reserve a spot, drop-ins are welcome. The park offers a picnic area, playgrounds, hiking, fishing, and all kinds of other outdoor opportunities. Feel that fresh air!
- Minneapolis Institute of Art
Minneapolis Institute of Art is a top-ranked local museum that will be open for business this Easter. It's known for its fascinating and interactive exhibits, many of which are designed to capture young imaginations. There's always something new to see and do here.
Go On Your Own Easter Adventure with Eggstravaganza and More
Looking for a more festive Easter experience, complete with eggs and bunny rabbits? The Twin Cities won't disappoint. Many different organizations set up events for youths every year. This is just a small sample of what you can expect to see.
- The Original Eggstravaganza
Eggstravaganza at the Oliver Kelley Farm is one of the original local Easter events and still the most popular alternative to a traditional egg hunt. Kids get to color, decorate, and prepare hard-boiled eggs to enjoy a wide variety of fun dishes.
- Dusk Hunt
Dusk Hunt takes place on April 12 between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. as a good old-fashioned Easter egg hunt. In addition to the hunt, taking place at 7 p.m., families will get to play games and make crafts. There'll even be a petting zoo!
- Easter Egg Hunt at the James J. Hill House
The Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Minnesota Historical Society kicks off at 10 a.m. on April 14. Intended for children aged 2-7, it includes a journey around the historic home, snacks, and story time. Participants should remember to bring their own basket.
