St. Paul 2019 Winter Ice Carnival
Finding one of the best homes in Saint Paul to buy is always a reason to celebrate as our clients know well. When you reside in the Twin Cities, there is always something to celebrate or some festival to attend.  Coming up on January 24th to February 3rd, our real estate agents recommend the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.

This fun-filled winter extravaganza is the perfect outing for everyone. Both locals and tourists will love it, as will families of all ages. The carnival showcases the Minnesota snow with some signature events, such as the ice carving competitions, the parades, family activities, and more.

  • The Parades
The Moon Glow Pedestrian Parade officially kicks off the carnival on January 24, 2019, at 6 pm. Guests are encouraged to join local businesses on the winter stroll from the Chamber of Commerce to Rice Park, where the winter fun begins.  The King Koreas Grand Day Parade on Saturday, January 26th at 2 pm is also a treat as the new king and his Royal court ride on through town on decorated floats. With dozens of marching bands, it's a sight to see.

  • The Royal Coronation
For the last 130 years, the Royal Coronation features a formal dinner and theatrical performance before introducing the new Royal Court. The final part of the evening includes crowning King Boreas, Queen Aurora of the Snows, and multiple other members of the Royal Guard.

  • Ice Carving and Snow Sculpting Competitions
Want to watch your fellow Minnesotans work the elements into pieces of art? Or are you brave enough to try yourself? During the first weekend of the carnival, artists are hard at work. Over at Kellogg Mall Park, competitors use knives and chainsaws to carve their ice sculpture, while at Vulcan Snow Park, they can only use hand tools and an eight-cubic-foot of snow for their masterpiece.

  • Kid and Family Day Activities
While most of the activities are geared toward family fun, certain days are themed children and family days. On Saturday, January 26th, it's Kids Day, where there will be interactive games all day, including a new Puzzle Contest. On Tuesday, January 30th, it's Frozen Family Fun Night, where the entertainment and performers are Frozen-themed. Families can ice-skate at the Wells Fargo WinterSkate or try an Ice Bar from a food truck. On the final Family Day on Feb 3rd, you'll have the opportunity to meet some US Olympians.

  • Securian Financial Winter Run
Calling all runners! Find your thermal underwear, gloves, and hats and start training for the 34th year of the Half Marathon, 5K and 10K run on Saturday, January 26, 2019. The Half Marathon will begin at 9 am with the other two beginning shortly after that. Each runner will get a Winter Carnival coupon book, collector's mug, and other goodies.

These are just a few of the events at the carnival. For a more detailed list, please check out the Events Calendar.

The Saint Paul Winter Carnival is just one annual event that makes living in Minnesota magical. Living in Saint Paul, you'll have a chance to experience many local traditions and festivals.
