Saint Paul Area Holiday Lights
No matter how you celebrate, you'll see homes in Saint Paul decorated with holiday lights throughout the winter season. Many homeowners here love to get into the festive spirit and contribute their delightful spin on the holidays.

Whether you're the kind of person who enjoys climbing up to string lights or you'd rather sit back and enjoy what others come up with, you're sure to bask in the beauty St. Paul has to offer. It's the home of some of the most stunning Christmas light displays in the nation.

You'll want to visit our amazing displays all throughout the city:

  • Rice Park
Rice Park is already well-known for the WinterSkate skating rink that opens in mid-November every year. The park's annual ribbon-cutting ceremony kicks off the light-watching season as visitors gaze in wonder at the huge Christmas tree festooned with lights. Displays will continue this year, even though parts of Rice Park are still in the midst of an intensive renovation.

  • Union Depot
The Union Depot "Hub for the Holidays" event is an annual tradition that draws people from all over the Twin Cities. Its tree-lighting event takes place a little later in the season, on the last day of November, and starts at 5:30 p.m. that night. The North Pole Express steam engine and vintage train cars are a sight to behold on the weekends of November 29 and December 6.

  • Mears Park
The local neighborhood group, "Friends of Mears Park," sponsors its own lighting activities in this festive little nook just one block across. The Mears Park perimeter, inside, and the pergola all get the shining treatment each year. 2017 represented a resurgence and was one of the biggest and best years yet. Hopefully, 2018 will be a brilliant encore performance!

  • Loring Park
Holidazzle was formerly a mobile light display that formed the cornerstone of the annual Holidazzle parade all throughout the downtown area. It has since settled in its permanent place in Loring Park and gotten much bigger. In addition to light displays, you'll also find movie nights and get to meet up with the big man himself, Santa Claus. Four of the five Saturdays in December will also feature incredible fireworks.

  • Summit Avenue
Summit Avenue is home to the governor's mansion and other historic St. Paul landmarks. Not too surprisingly, it's also one of the glowing epicenters of holiday lights! This 4.5-mile journey will present you with a leisurely stroll or drive. It connects the Mississippi River to all the best shopping showcased by the downtown area – a terrific way to enjoy a holiday weekend.
