Saint Paul Historic Homes - Saint Paul Cathedral
Saint Paul homes for sale
aren't the only thing in Saint Paul that is named for, well, Saint Paul.

Our agents will tell you that when it's time to visit the city of Saint Paul, you should make time to take in the sights if you can. Sure, there are wonderful homes to choose from, but the Twin Cities offer many other charms, including their long history.

One way history comes alive here is the Cathedral of Saint Paul.

The Cathedral of Saint Paul is a Stunning Architectural Achievement

Cathedrals rank among some of the greatest architectural feats in history, but you don't have to go to Paris if you want to witness an amazing example. For residents of Saint Paul, there's one right here in the downtown area that you can enjoy whenever you want.

The Cathedral of Saint Paul isn't quite as ancient as Notre Dame, but you'll feel like you've stepped into a visionary space. The Cathedral is located at 239 Selby Avenue in Saint Paul and is more than 100 years old.  Its construction began in 1907. Over its history, three different archbishops oversaw its construction.

With the interior finally completed in 1941, the Beaux-Art style cathedral has become one of the most acclaimed in the United States. It was inspired by Renaissance-era cathedrals throughout the French countryside, emphasized with a majestic Minnesota Saint Cloud granite exterior.

Before they even set foot inside and behold the beautiful interior columns made from fine marble, sightseers marvel at the sight of the 120-foot wide copper dome that caps the structure. With its huge decorative lantern, the total height of the cathedral is a breathtaking 306 feet.

You'll Feel Welcome in Services at Cathedral of Saint Paul

Of course, the Cathedral of Saint Paul continues to offer a full schedule of worship services for both visitors and locals. The open floor plan helps to ensure that there's ample room to enjoy the serene interior no matter how many people wish to attend.

Mass is held daily throughout the week and several times on Sunday.

The cathedral sits on an impressive overlook that provides an excellent view of downtown Saint Paul below. It's entirely open to the public daily except for special hours on holidays and holy observances.

Entering the cathedral is always free, but donations are accepted.

Visitors are permitted to explore on their own and enjoy the wonder of this marvelous space, with rules applying only during Mass and special events. In the evening, the entire cathedral and the lantern are illuminated. It's a spectacular sight visible from much of Saint Paul.
