Bloomington: Nickelodeon Universe is Out of This World Family Fun
When we talk to new clients about all the amenities they can expect from Bloomington homes, one subject comes up all the time: The Mall of America.
Bloomington, Minnesota is home to this iconic shopping experience, which holds more than 500 stores. Spread out across four distinct wings, each with either three or four stories, this is truly a wonderland of shopping excitement. The selection is truly second to none. With a combined total of nearly 8 million square feet, even the most devoted mallrat might not be able to uncover all the wonders Mall of America has to offer.
But there's one thing in particular that no kid should miss out on Nickelodeon Universe!
It's one of the top amusement parks in Minnesota, and it's smack dab in the middle of the Mall.
Nickelodeon Universe is Bloomington's Top Attraction for Kids
For decades, Nickelodeon has been the #1 source for children's programming. From tykes to teens, it provides entertaining and educational television that millions tune in to see every day.
It's found right in the center of the Mall of America, making it the star attraction for kids. You can visit before or after your shopping trip since the park is free to enter. Visitors come and go as they please, but have to purchase points to enjoy the rides.
More than two dozen rides are spread across seven acres, and there's something to suit any kid.
Roller coasters, thrill rides, family rides, and rides for young kids are all available. In a major 2008 renovation, a fountain area at the center of the park was replaced by the Avatar Airbender rollercoaster, which reaches to a height of 70 feet while spinning riders.
Many other new attractions made their debut at that time, including the SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge, one of the most popular rides to ever grace the park. It's the tallest coaster in Nickelodeon Universe and features a dramatic 97-degree drop.
The latest new rides appeared in 2015, including the fast-paced Shredder's Mutant Masher and the kid-friendly Bubble Guppies Guppy Bubbler.
When you want to catch a bite to eat between rides, Nickelodeon Universe has you covered. In addition to familiar chains like Caribou Coffee and the Hard Rock Cafe, there are plenty of carts with sweet treats: Mini-donuts, cotton candy, and popcorn.
Young guests will also enjoy stores including the Lego Store and American Girl Store.
